Falz Biography – Folarin Falana, born on October 27, 1990, and better known by his stage name Falz, is a Nigerian rapper, songwriter, and actor. His music career began during his secondary school days when he formed a group called The School Boys with a friend. He officially launched his professional music career in 2009, gaining widespread recognition with the release of the song “Marry Me,” which featured Poe and Yemi Alade.
Falz owns an independent record label called Bahd Guys Records and released his debut album, Wazup Guy, in 2014. His subsequent albums include Stories That Touch (2015), 27 (2017), and Moral Instruction (2019).

Falz Early Life and Education
Falz was born in Mushin, Lagos State, to lawyers and human rights activists Funmi and Femi Falana. After attending St. Leo’s Catholic Primary School in Ikeja and Olashore International School in Osun State for his basic and secondary education, he graduated from the University of Reading in England with an LLB degree. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2012 after completing his education at the Nigerian Law School in Abuja.
Falz Career
Falz’s passion for music started as a hobby in secondary school, where he formed The School Boys music group. In 2009, he released Shakara: The Mixtape, a compilation of his early recordings. His 2011 single “Wahz Up Guy” followed by “High Class” and “Currency” helped establish him in the Nigerian music scene.
In 2014, Falz was named one of tooXclusive’s “Artistes to Watch,” and later that year, he released his debut album Wazup Guy, which featured several prominent producers and artists. The album’s success led to his hit single “Ello Bae” in 2015, which earned him several awards and nominations, including at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards and The Headies.
In 2015, Falz released his second studio album, Stories That Touch, followed by collaborations with Simi on singles like “Jamb Question” and “Soldier.” In 2016, he won Best Actor in a Comedy Movie/Series at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for his role in Jenifa’s Diary and the Viewer’s Choice Best New International Act at the BET Awards.
