Walter Akpani Biography – Walter Akpani is a seasoned banker with over 30 years of experience in the financial sector. He earned a Master of Science degree in Finance from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland.

Walter Akpani Professional Career

Walter Akpani has played a significant role in the establishment of several banks in Nigeria. He was among the founding team at ICON Stockbrokers, served on the restructuring team at Commercial Trust Bank, and was also a pioneer staff member at both Standard Trust Bank Plc (now part of United Bank for Africa – UBA) and Platinum Bank Ltd.

Recognized as a leading figure in the treasury operations of Nigeria’s banking sector, he managed treasury functions at ICON Stockbrokers, Commercial Trust Bank, and PlatinumBank, which has since become Keystone Bank.

He left Platinum Bank Ltd, where he held the position of Vice President of Institutional Banking, to found United Mortgage Bank Limited. This institution has since evolved into ProvidusBank.
