After the death of his father when he was two years old, Layi wasabi was raised by his mother with his extended family, including uncles, aunts, and grandparents. In an interview with Culture Custodian, he described his childhood as “dull” and “uneventful”.
Layi wasabi completed his primary education in Osun State before obtaining his degree from Bowen University. When Layi wasabi was in JSS2, he tried his hand at comedy, hiding behind a microphone to entertain his middle school peers at an arts concert. He joined and eventually managed The Emerald Star theater troupe until SS3, and also did stand-up comedy. The highlight of the night was their performance in the talent show, which allowed him to realize his passion for comedy.
