Jamal Musiala was born in Stuttgart, Germany to a Nigerian-British father of Yoruba descent and a German mother of Polish descent. He spent his early years in Fulda until he was seven, after which his family moved to England.

Jamal Musiala, who also qualified to represent Nigeria through his father, has played in both England and Germany at youth level. In November 2020, Jamal Musiala was called up to the England U21 squad for their UEFA European Under-21 tournament. He made his U21 debut in the 3-1 win against Andorra on 13 November at the Molineux Stadium.
