Frank Mbah Biography – Frank Mbah, born 51 years ago in Lagos State, joined the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) as a cadet officer in 1992. He trained at the Nigeria Police Academy in Kano, where he graduated as the top cadet. After serving seven years as an Inspector, he was promoted to ASP in 1999 and to DSP in 2003. His dedication and hard work earned him the rank of SP in 2008, followed by CSP in 2012. Frank Mbah was promoted to ACP in 2014, DCP in 2018, and eventually CP in December 2020. By March 2023, he reached the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, and on June 16, 2023, he was promoted to Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG).
Frank Mbah is a graduate of the University of Lagos, where he earned an LLB in Law. He attended the Nigerian Law School in Abuja, receiving the Justice Kayode Eso Award for Best Student in Professional Ethics, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002. In 2005, he pursued a Master’s in Law (LLM) at the University of Dundee in Scotland, where he graduated with distinction. Frank Mbah is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, USA, and holds a Certificate in National and International Security from Harvard University.
Frank Mbah Career
Frank Mbah is a member of the National Institute (mni) after completing the Senior Executive Course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, in 2022. He also participated in the Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme at the University of Oxford’s Business School.
As a dedicated and versatile officer, Frank Mbah has served in various challenging roles within the Nigeria Police, including investigations, operations, administration, and public relations. He has held the position of Commissioner of Police for Ogun State and Commissioner of the Border Patrol Force at Force Headquarters, Abuja. He also served as the national spokesperson for the NPF three times and was part of the Nigerian contingent to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Liberia from 2006 to 2007, where he earned a UN Medal.
Frank Mbah career includes roles as the Area Commander for both Area ‘J’ Ajah and Area ‘E’ Festac Town in Lagos State, and as Assistant Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Panti-Yaba, Lagos. He has also served in various capacities at Zone XI Police Headquarters in Oshogbo, the State CID in Umuahia, the Special Fraud Unit in Ikoyi, Lagos, and Force CID Annex in Kaduna.
He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria (CILGPAN). Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Chartered Examiners of Criminology and Forensic Investigation, USA, and a member of several international organizations, including the FBI National Academy Associates, Inc. (FBINAA) and The International Emergency Management Society (TIEMS).
Before his appointment as DIG in charge of Research and Planning, Frank Mbah was the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) at the Lagos Annex in Alagbon, Ikoyi. He is currently the only DIG from Eastern Nigeria and has undergone numerous prestigious law enforcement training programs, both domestically and internationally.
