Adedeji Adeleke was born on March 6, 1957, in Enugu State to Ayoola and Esther Adeleke. Raised by his maternal grandmother, he hails from Ede in Osun State. Adedeji Adeleke is related to the late Isiaq Adeleke, the first Governor of Osun State, and Ademola Adeleke. A Nigerian by birth, he turned 64 in March 2021.
After leaving Enugu, Adedeji Adeleke began his primary education in Lagos at Ansar-Ud-Deen School from 1965 to 1970. Upon completing his primary education, he moved to Osun State for secondary education at the Seventh-Day Adventist Grammar School.
In 1976, Adedeji Adeleke traveled to the United States to attend Western Kentucky University, where he earned a degree in finance in 1979. He continued his studies at the same institution, obtaining an MBA in 1981. In 1983, he earned a doctoral degree from Pacific Columbia University in Mills Valley, California.
After completing his studies in the United States, Adedeji returned to Nigeria to participate in the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme.
