In 2014, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah ran for the Anambra gubernatorial election under the Labour Party but did not win. On February 24, 2019, he was elected as the Senator representing Anambra South under the Young Progressive Party (YPP), later switching to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
